I believe if we want to define collaboration, we will mostly agree on the same definition; individuals working together with a common purpose to achieve business benefits. collaboration does not necessarily mean that you have to agree with others before any decision is made, but it encourages professionals with various skills to make faster decisions.

However, when we say SMART collaboration or collaboration technology it means workplace transformation; collaboration eliminates the barrier of time, location, culture and language. Nowadays, executives use collaboration to achieve productivity, decision making and innovation.

 I am confident that workplace transformation will not be an optional anymore, there is a real sense of urgency behind collaboration which has a positive impact on both team members and on the organization overall performance, if you don’t transform now, your competitor eventually will and you will be disrupted and under pressure by the fast move and innovations of others.

I know that collaboration technology is not used effectively in different organization so far, but at the end of the day, the mentality of a workforce is vital to maximizing any new technology, especially when it comes to collaboration tools and software.

Cisco released an Executive Guide in order to know how an organization can achieve value from collaboration by focusing on process, culture and technology as part of Cisco collaborative Framework.

According to Gartner by 2018, 50% of team coordination and communication will occur via mobile group and collaboration apps. Gartner predicts that by 2017, 25% of companies will lose their market position as a result of “digital business incompetence” and the “lack of holistic response to how consumerization trends change how work is best accomplished.”

When your workforce or your client base is in different regions, or there is a business need for working remotely, enterprise collaboration will be the best option that allows for project and files to be share everywhere with anyone.

Millennials are currently entering the workforce and companies are adapting its workplace to accommodate their work style “tech savvy, mobile centric and socially networked” and that makes Collaboration an essential for any organization.
